Lee D Smith MSc, BSc (hons), BACPR, CRDET, FMSC
I started in the fitness profession over 25 years ago and my passion has always been to help people achieve the best quality of life in terms of enhancing their health and fitness whilst managing any existing injuries or medical conditions. I formed Aspire 4 Health more than 16 years ago to fulfil that passion. I gained both my BSc and MSc degrees at the highly respected Leeds Metropolitan University (Carnegie). My special interest is helping people optimise their bodies in terms of muscular balance, postural awareness, and biomechanics in order to prevent inefficient movement and ultimately injury. I completed my Functional Movement Screen (FMSC) certifications and regularly assess client's movement patterns at baseline and throughout their programmes to optimise results. I am a REPS (now CIMPSA) level 4 Advanced Instructor and was one of the first 8 people in the country who was approached by the British Lung Foundation to become certified to work with pulmonary patients. Since then I have become Nationally certified to work with both Cardiac (British Association of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation) and Pulmonary (Chronic Respiratory Disease Exercise Training) related conditions.
I work with clients of all ages and am a strong believer in Life Long Fitness.
I have a wide range of experience which includes working with people with chronic pain and injury through to preparing people to climb Mount Everest, sail across the Atlantic Ocean or get themselves fit for their sporting events.
In terms of sports conditioning I have done consultancy work for numerous professional football teams including Huddersfield Town, Bradford City and Scunthorpe United as well as working one to one with professional athletes and other teams such as the City of Bradford Men's and City of Leeds Women's Waterpolo teams.
